Mabamba Swamp is a paradise for bird enthusiasts and one of the most reliable places in Uganda to see the prehistoric Shoebill. The swamp is an important breeding habitat and is known for having one of the highest concentrations of Shoebills in the world. This protected wetland offers visitors an excellent chance to observe this remarkable bird in its natural environment.
A relaxing boat cruise through the winding waterways of the swamp also provides great opportunities to spot many other bird species, including several that are endemic to the Lake Victoria wetlands.
During the tour, you may encounter the rare Shoebill along with a rich variety of birds such as the Papyrus Gonolek, African and Lesser Jacanas, Malachite and Pied Kingfishers, Great and Reed Cormorants, Great White, Intermediate, Black and Cattle Egrets, Purple, Goliath, Rufous-bellied, Squacco, Black-headed and Grey Herons, Greater and Lesser Swamp Warblers, African Fish Eagle, Palm-nut Vulture, and Wood and Common Sandpipers, among many others.

White water rafting in Uganda is done in Jinja on the great River Nile which is Africa’s longest river; starts in Uganda and pours its water into the Mediterranean Sea. There are 5 major rafts which range between grade 2 and grade 5 rafts. It is such an exciting activity and is usually done by the brave or those who wish to conquer their fears. Safety gears are provided like life jacket and helmet and it is done in the company of well-trained rafting guides. There are also kayakers who come along; they are there to help out rafters in case of unforeseen circumstances.
The activity starts with a briefing while in the boat; the guides will show you how to peddle while on the rafts and what to do when the boat flips over. When the boat flips, let go of the boat and move away from it and the kayakers will be there already to help you out. There is a half day and full day rafting activity. I would recommend a full day rafting activity because you get to experience a lot more. The full day activity takes between 5-6 hours. Lunch is served along the route and at the end of the activity; you are welcomed back from the thrill with some barbecue and cold Uganda beers and juice.
Your driver guide drives you to the starting point and when you get to your boat, he drives to the end point and wait for you.

Saying goodbye to Bwindi means carrying memories of gorilla's eyes, earthy scents, and the embrace of nature. It's not just a place; it's an experience that lingers in your soul, forever changing you.
As you explore Bwindi, you'll find yourself surrounded by towering trees covered in moss and vines, their roots weaving through the forest floor. The air is alive with the sounds of wildlife - the calls of monkeys and birds, the buzz of insects, and the rustling of leaves as creatures go about their day.
But the true stars of Bwindi are its inhabitants. Home to almost half of the world's mountain gorillas, the park offers an incredible opportunity for gorilla trekking. Picture the excitement of spotting these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat, making eye contact with a silverback, or watching a baby gorilla play with its family.
Yet Bwindi is not just about gorillas. The forest is home to a variety of wildlife, from elusive elephants to playful monkeys and a rainbow of bird species. Every step brings a chance encounter with the wonders of nature.
Beyond wildlife, Bwindi boasts serene hiking trails leading to waterfalls, viewpoints, and streams. Imagine the refreshing dip in a clear mountain pool surrounded by the symphony of the forest, or the sense of achievement as you summit a peak and take in Bwindi's beauty below.
While the best time to visit is during dry seasons for optimal conditions, even in the rain, Bwindi's enchantment shines through with misty trees and vibrant life.
Saying goodbye to Bwindi means carrying memories of gorilla's eyes, earthy scents, and the embrace of nature. It's not just a place; it's an experience that lingers in your soul, forever changing you.

Lake Mburo National Park
Tucked away in Uganda, Lake Mburo National Park is a special find for travelers looking for an authentic African safari. Picture this: as the sun rises over the grassy plains, the park comes alive with the calls of lions in the distance, hyenas playing, and zebras peacefully grazing. It's a place where the essence of Africa thrives, where nature rules the land, and every moment is an opportunity for thrills and wonder.
One of the most captivating parts of Lake Mburo is its diverse wildlife. On a game drive, keep your eyes wide open for impalas gracefully leaping, giraffes in the sunset, zebras, buffaloes, and hippos. If you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of elusive leopards and hyenas, adding a touch of mystery to your adventure.
Beyond its wildlife, Lake Mburo charms visitors with its breathtaking landscape. The park is named after the shimmering Lake Mburo, reflecting the sky above. A boat safari on the lake reveals crocodiles sunbathing, hippos splashing around, and various bird species along the shore. The savannah is dotted with acacia trees and rocky formations, painting a scenic backdrop for your African escapade.
What makes Lake Mburo truly special is its intimate vibe. Unlike bigger parks, Lake Mburo offers a more personal safari experience, letting you get up close and personal with nature. Whether you're exploring on a game drive, walking safari, or horseback ride, you'll feel a deep connection with the wildlife and land like never before.
The ideal time to visit Lake Mburo is during the dry season from June to August and December to February. The sparse vegetation makes spotting wildlife easier, and animals gather around water sources, offering fantastic sightings. In the wet season from March to May and September to November, the park transforms with lush greenery, vibrant foliage, and migratory birds enhancing its beauty.
As night falls and the nocturnal creatures awaken, Lake Mburo reveals its raw beauty. Surrounded by the untouched nature of this African wilderness, you'll be left in awe. In the heart of Uganda, embraced by the natural sights and sounds, you'll experience a sense of peace and wonder that stays with you long after your visit. Lake Mburo is not just a place, it's an adventure that awakens your spirit and leaves you craving more of Africa's untouched magic.
