After enjoying a filling breakfast, gear up for a thrilling adventure as you embark on a 2-hour drive to the Marangu gate, the starting point for your trek. From there, you will begin your ascent to Mandara hut, which is situated at an elevation of 2,700 meters above sea level. The hike to Mandara hut is relatively easy and takes about 3-4 hours, covering a distance of approximately 8 km.
As you hike, you will be surrounded by lush rainforests that are home to a variety of exotic flora and fauna, including monkeys, colobus, and birds such as turacos, hornbills, and sunbirds. You may also catch glimpses of Kilimanjaro's snowy peaks, which loom majestically in the distance. Setting off after an early breakfast, you'll make the lengthy (22km) ride to the famous Maji Moto hotsprings. Casting aside your bike and helmet, you'll have the chance to soak in the wonderfully warm waters, relax under the shade of the oasis, and eat a local lunch.
You'll then get back on your bikes and continue cycling to your accommodation.
