The first section of the day heads straight up the hill in the direction of the Kibo of Kibo and soon joins the Machame Route. The route mostly follows over rocks and stones in the morning; however it is a pretty good walking terrain. The walking time to the Lava tower is around 3 hours and you will have hiked the highest point for today’s stage. Barranco camp lies at an Elevation of 3960m and slowly you descend into the Barranco valley, interspersed with giant lobelia and senecia plants.
