The initial part of the day involves ascending directly up the hill towards the Kibo Peak, merging with the Machame Route. The path consists mostly of navigating rocks and stones in the morning, offering suitable terrain for walking. It takes about 3 hours to reach the Lava Tower, marking the highest point of the day's journey. Situated at an altitude of 3960m, Barranco camp is reached as you gradually descend into the Barranco valley, adorned with towering lobelia and senecia plants.
