Verney's Camp

Verney’s Camp is an intimate luxury safari camp tucked away in a remote private concession in the south-eastern part of Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe. Set beneath towering teak and mopane trees and overlooking a busy natural waterhole, the camp gives guests a front-row seat to one of Hwange’s most remarkable wildlife spectacles—especially the park’s famous elephant herds. Because the camp is located in a private concession within Hwange, guests can enjoy a quieter safari away from the main visitor routes, with activities such as night drives and guided walking safaris.



With only 10 safari tents—eight double tents and two family tents—Verney’s offers a peaceful and personal atmosphere. The tents are positioned among the teak trees on raised platforms, each with an en-suite bathroom, hot and cold running water, flushing toilet and a private veranda overlooking the surrounding wilderness and waterhole. The combination of classic canvas accommodation and modern comforts creates the feeling of a traditional African safari while still providing everything guests need for a comfortable stay.



One of the camp’s greatest attractions is wildlife viewing from the camp itself. The waterhole in front of Verney’s attracts elephants, buffalo, zebra, giraffe and other animals, particularly during the dry season. Guests can relax on their private deck or in the main camp while watching wildlife come to drink and bathe. The surrounding area is also known for opportunities to see lions, leopards and other predators, making every game drive an exciting possibility.



For adventurous travellers, Verney’s offers day and night game drives, guided walking safaris, bird watching and cultural experiences. The night drives are especially valuable because they allow guests to explore after dark and search for nocturnal wildlife that is rarely encountered during daytime game drives. Walking with an experienced Zimbabwean guide provides a completely different perspective, allowing guests to discover tracks, plants, insects and the smaller details of the African bush.
