From there, you will begin your ascent to Mandara hut, which is situated at an elevation of 2,700 meters above sea level. The hike to Mandara hut is relatively easy and takes about 3-4 hours, covering a distance of approximately 8 km.
As you hike, you will be surrounded by lush rainforests that are home to a variety of exotic flora and fauna, including monkeys, colobus, and birds such as turacos, hornbills, and sunbirds. You may also catch glimpses of Kilimanjaro's snowy peaks, which loom majestically in the distance. The hike to Mandara hut is a great way to kick off your Kilimanjaro trek and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Tanzania.
